Ms. Laura was born in east Texas and raised deep in the Piney Woods. She has loved horses since she first saw them and has pursued that love throughout her life. Ms. Laura began riding at age 8, starting in Hunter/Jumper. She went to her first show at 9 and fell in love with the show ring. Ms. Laura got her first horse when she was 13, and very soon had a herd of four living on the farm where she was raised. She began training with an Eventing instructor in High School, during which time she also successfully showed on the Red River Hunter/Jumper circuit.
Ms. Laura began sharing her love of horses soon after acquiring her own, giving lessons to local children. She took several second jobs after graduating, teaching lessons and working problem horses to keep riding in her life. She began working full time at a local barn several years ago as an instructor, trainer, and stable hand. She is also currently finishing a degree in Nanotechnology, though horses remain the center of her life.
Ms. Laura enjoys teaching the how's and why's of riding. She stresses the importance of understanding and communicating with the horse. She finds joy in teaching new, and not so new, riders the solid foundation needed to further their riding career. Her lessons are focused not only on the development of the rider, but on the real reason to ride: the love of horses and the fun of riding. Ms. Laura's primary objective is her student's success and is always thrilled to help them reach their goals!
